According to statistics, around 80.7 million Americans travel around the world during Thanksgiving. This also applies to Edison Intermediate School (EIS) students; like other Americans, eighth grader Chloe Baik said, “This year, I’m going to spend Thanksgiving at my uncles house.”
Over 70% of all Americans eat turkey on Thanksgiving. Also, 67% of Americans eat mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving. As well as most Americans, eighth grader Alex Hueck likes to eat warm mashed potatoes. When asked about what food is your favorite to eat over Thanksgiving? She explained, “My favorite Thanksgiving food is mashed potatoes, and my dad makes them. I don’t really enjoy a lot of the foods that people eats during the meal, so I am happy that the mashed potatoes are so good.”
Similar to Alex, eighth grader Mia Brodo also likes to have a warm plate of mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving.
Seventh grader Charlie Pata shared what she is grateful for this year. “ I am grateful for my friends and family.”

Another thing people enjoy doing on Thanksgiving is watching the Thanksgiving day parade. Various people have stated that they are excited for the Labubu float and Declan Mutchler, a seventh grader said that he’s excited for the Minion float. Some new floats this year at the Macy’s Day Parade include: the Stranger Things float, Buzz Light Year float, Deep Tiger and Suzie from K-Pop Demon Hunters. About 3.5 million people watch the parade in person with over 50 million viewers watching at home.
Several students described who they would invite to Thanksgiving dinner dead or alive. Seventh grader Anthony Kim stated, “I would like to invite Lionel Messi to dinner.”
Anabella Grove seventh grader said, “I would invite Harry Potter to Thanksgiving dinner.”
Eighth grader Mia Brodo shared, “I would like to have my Grandpa at Thanksgiving dinner.”
Along with many students, eighth grade English Language Arts teacher Mrs. Kim Swenson loves to spend time with her family on Thanksgiving. She also said her favorite food is her dad’s stuffing.
Mrs. Swenson explained that she spends her Thanksgiving with her immediate family at her sister’s house. Lastly Mrs. Swenson expressed, “If I could invite one person to Thanksgiving dinner it would be Taylor Swift.”
