In 1764, golf was created at the Old Course at St Andrews, Scotland. Golf goes way back where people used bent sticks and a stuffed leather ball. In golf, there are 4 major tournaments that are named the British Open, the US Open, the Masters, and the PGA Championship. These tournaments are different from others because they are for bigger rewards and watched by more. However, to become professional in golf you have to win qualifiers to get into other tournaments and get a tour card.

A common question from many is, “Is there a league to rank pros?”

Yes, there is a ranking called the FedEx Cup ranking which gives you points for doing well in tournaments and at the end of each year you get money for how well you place. In 2020, Dustin Johnson tooked home the first place spot in the FedEx Cup standings which gave him a 15 million dollar bonus.

Another frequent question asked is, “How many pro tournaments are there in a year?”

Each year there are around 50 official tournaments. However, you can play in as many tournaments as you’d like.

Like Michael Jordan and Lebron James, there are two super dominant golfers that are debated everyday. The first one being Jack Nicklaus. Jack Nicklaus has had a total of 117 career professional wins and 73 PGA tour wins. The second person in the debate is Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods has a total of 82 career victories. Jack has 18 total major wins while Tiger has 15. This debate is so controversial because both players are better in certain categories.

This year, Phil Mickelson earned is sixth major championship title, and 45th PGA tour victory. With this win, Mickelson became the oldest major winner in tour history after the age of 50. He has qualified to play on the Plantation Course in Kapalua.
